Churches Together, a gathering of NCMI-relating churches from all across the United Kingdom, took place between 9-12th April 2012. It was a beautiful time of ministry and input – and we are delighted to make available for download the recordings of the sessions that took place over the course of the four days.

There is teaching from Nigel Day-Lewis, part of the Europe Trans-local team, Tyrone Daniel, who heads up NCMI, and Mike Hanchett, from Denver, Colorado.

Baptisms of 3 of CTL’s members took place outside York Minster on Easter Saturday, 7th April 2012, by the Archbishop of York, John Sentamu!

Our monthly prayer meeting is taking place on Friday 20th April 2012.

Courses at Christ the Light

During 2012, Christ the Light will be running two courses: Parenting Children and Parenting Teenagers. Each will take place over five weeks. Parenting Children will be held during February and March, and Parenting Teenagers will take place during April and May, all on Monday evenings.

The Men’s Gathering takes place on the first Tuesday of every month.

If your child is over 7 years old, but not old enough for youth, we have a homegroup on the last Friday of every month.

CTL is an independent local church plant located in Huntington and New Earswick, York, and is led by Charles and Cath Walters. CTL have chosen to relate to the New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI) Apostolic Team for direction, accountability and partnership in its aim to reach the world for Jesus Christ.

CTL seeks to co-labour with Jesus Christ in leading all people to knowledge of Him – and in so doing, participating together in building His Kingdom here on earth.

CTL is conscious that it does not desire to do so alone and so it seeks to work together with all those around it who are Bible-believing Christians. This is something it partakes in with great joy.

CTL is a growing, vibrant congregation who welcome new members to it with great enthusiasm. Our worship is passionate and our Bible-centred teaching is accessible to all. You can listen to our sermons on the website.

We have a wonderful children’s church which meets during the Sunday morning service, and a youth group, Suburban Soul, that meets on Tuesday evenings. Once a month, we hold a homegroup for 7-11 year-olds.  We also run a tots and toddlers group, Sparkles, on Monday mornings. For adults, we run homegroups on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings in the Huntington area, as well as our popular Steppin’ Out group on Wednesday evenings at Heworth Golf Club.

What to Expect

We are a vibrant, all-age congregation and we acknowledge that our style of worship is not for everyone – but we would be delighted if you would like to give us a try. We always endeavour to make everyone welcome.

When you first arrive, you will be greeted by a member of our welcome team, who will be happy to show you to the main hall where we hold our services, and introduce you to other members of our congregation.

Our services commence at 10:30am and begin with a brief welcome from Charles, followed by family notices and prayer. We then go into a period of extended modern worship, during which you are free to stand or sit.

Following worship, Charles will preach a sermon lasting approximately 30 minutes (sometimes longer, sometimes shorter), after which there will be another period of worship to conclude the meeting. During worship there is always the opportunity for people to bring words or scripture that they feel God has put on their heart to share. At the end of the service, Charles, Cath and other leaders will be available to chat to and to pray with you.

After the service, tea, coffee and cakes are served in the area just outside the main hall. We would encourage you to stay and chat to the other members of our congregation. Information will be available about our homegroups which meet during the week if you are interested in joining in midweek fellowship and Bible study.

We also offer a range of downloadable activities for children that you can print out and use to teach Bible Stories to your children through fun.

Sparkles Tots and Toddlers is starting on Monday 5th September 2011 at Bellfarm Community Centre, York. We will be running optional ‘See and Know’ sessions for toddlers, as well as crafts, activities, toys and snacks. All our volunteers are CRB checked.

Our last Sparkles meeting of 2011 will be held on Monday 12th December 2011, and will have a Christmas theme.

Steppin’ Out offers a unique approach to finding out more about Christianity, in a relaxed and informal environment. Chat about Jesus over a pint and a packet of crisps (or a Coca-Cola if you prefer!) and get to know more about Christ the Light Church.

Once a fortnight, our homegroups meet at Steppin’ Out, and a meal is served.

We will be having a Christmas Dinner at Steppin’ Out on Wednesday 14th December 2011.

Father, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now, I have been living for myself and that is wrong, I need you in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my King, my Lord, and my Saviour. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow you all the days of my life. Those days are in your hands. I ask this in Jesus’ precious and Holy name. Amen.

Christ the Light Church is an active church, and we are much more than just a church service on Sunday mornings. We run three homegroups on Thursday nights in the Huntington area, and on Wednesday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Once a month, we have separate gatherings for men and women, which offer a chance to relax and fellowship with others.
